A Special Announcement
As Facebook, email, and cell phones allow the spread of information much faster than I can possibly write a blog post, especially after having been up the better part of 36 hours, many of you will already know that Tuesday, February 7th at 8:11p.m., nine days after medical science predicted her arrival, I was among the privileged to welcome Abigail Kay Balos into the world. Abigail is the daughter and first child of our daughter Stephanie and her husband Kenny who were married in spring of 2016.
Long Story Short
Stephanie and Kenny went to the hospital around 11 p.m. Monday night after her water broke during a contraction. She labored off and on through the night with contractions slowing down greatly as morning came. The doctor decided a little Pitocin would encourage labor to start progressing again. All went well and labor still took the better part Tuesday as medication was administered in low doses, with small increases over time. This made it behave much like natural labor.
Baby finally arrived Tuesday night all pink and just perfect. She weighed in at 7 lbs., 9 oz. and was just over 20 inches long. Mother, baby, and dad are all doing well. Both sets of grandpas and grandmas were there to welcome her. Here are some pictures of the happy occasion.
